Maine (WABI) - Fraud continues to be a problem nationwide.

Scammers are targeting online shopping, digital payments, and charitable giving.

A new report from AARP finds that 89% of U.S. adults have experienced at least one type of fraud.

“I think it just tells us how ambiguous this problem is. It’s not just some guy in a basement lurking online anymore. This is transnational organized crime,” said Kathy Stokes, Senior Director of Fraud Prevention Programs at AARP Fraud Watch Network.

Whether it’s fake toll payment texts or phony gift cards, scammers are getting creative when it comes to trying to take your money and personal information.
