FORT DODGE, Iowa — A major winter storm swept through Iowa over the weekend, leaving behind multiple inches of snow and causing disruptions across the region.

In downtown Waterloo, visibility was significantly reduced as snow fell throughout Saturday. Snowplows worked diligently to clear the roads but were unable to prevent some vehicles from getting stuck in the slushy conditions.

A vehicle in Fort Dodge became stuck after more than 15 inches of snow fell in the area. The vehicle appeared to be stuck on railroad tracks, according to aerial footage. The abandoned vehicle caused train delays and required heavy machinery for removal from the tracks.

By Sunday, conditions had somewhat improved across the state and Monday’s snowfall is expected to be less severe than the weekend's storm.
