Lane Kiffin put weeks of speculation and rumors to rest on Sunday when he announced his decision to leave Ole Miss for the open head coaching job at LSU.

Speaking to ESPN on Sunday, Kiffin said that he consulted with Raiders head coach Pete Carroll while weighing his options.

“And especially when Coach Carroll said, ‘Your dad would tell you to go, man,’” Kiffin said. “Take the shot. Take the shot, you accomplished a lot [at Ole Miss].’”

Kiffin went on to describe his decision to leave Oxford as “really difficult.”
