Women in the UK are feeling isolated and self-conscious as they deal with hair loss.

Hair loss is leaving many UK women socially isolated, struggling with self-esteem, and spending hundreds on treatments, new research reveals. A poll of 1,000 women who have experienced hair thinning or loss found for six in 10 (59%), it has had a devastating impact on their day-to-day life - from sleep, to relationships with partners.

As many as 70% said their self-esteem has taken a major hit, while 52% admitted they no longer feel themselves - something most common among peri-menopausal women, when symptoms such as hair loss are more likely to occur. Furthermore, 34% of all women surveyed admitted they have avoided social occasions entirely due to shame about their hair.
