HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - The man who last week was sentenced to 150 years in prison for the death of a Columbus woman is appealing both his conviction and sentence.
Last week, Anthony Mattison, 36, of Osceola, was sentenced to 50 years to life in prison for second-degree murder and 48 years for use of a firearm to commit a felony.
He was convicted in August for the 2022 murder of 25-year-old Jasmine Garnett, whose body was found in a field near Harvard.
Mattison was also sentenced to 48 years in prison for each of two counts of attempted murder in connection with a 2022 shootout with Hastings police.
Court records show Mattison’s attorney filed notice Monday that he was appealing both the conviction and sentence in Garnett’s murder to the Nebraska Court of Appeals. As of Monday aftern
