Florida Highway Patrol are investigating a five-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 1 in just north of on Dec. 1.

An unidentified 60-year-old motorcyclist from Melbourne was taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center where the motorcyclist was pronounced dead after the crash around 9 a.m.

All northbound lanes of U.S. 1 were closed throughout Monday morning as troopers worked to investigate the scene of the crash.

According to a crash report from FHP, the four vehicles were heading north on U.S. 1 when an SUV being driven by a 52-year-old Melbourne man failed to slow in time leading to a collision between the SUV and motorcycle.

After the initial crash, the motorcyclist and the SUV driver collided with other vehicles in nearby lanes. A 36-year-old Melbourne woman was also taken to a local hospit
