AKRON, Ohio -- A Lorain man faces murder charges after police said he killed his girlfriend and shot her son.

Gregory Tillman, 38, is charged in Akron Municipal Court with murder, felonious assault, having weapons under disability, domestic violence and vandalism.

He is accused of fatally shooting Rebecca Guthrie, 44, and shooting and wounding her 25-year-old son during the Saturday morning incident, officials said.

The shooting happened about 2:10 a.m. at a home on Miles Avenue, east of South Arlington Street, police said.

Police said Tillman repeatedly stabbed Guthrie during an argument. Guthrie tried to run from Tillman, who shot her with a revolver, police said.

Tillman also shot Guthrie’s 25-year-old son after he tried to intervene, police said.
