Aberdeen have responded to claims made by a local councillor about the club's proposal to build a new community stadium as part of the city's beachfront regeneration project. The Dons had initially planned to build a new ground near their Cormack Park training complex in Kingswells but are now focusing their efforts to create a new facility near their existing stadium Pittodrie. ‌

In October, chairman Dave Cormack met with council chiefs to share details of a new report by a leading economic consultancy that revealed that the entire beachfront masterplan could generate a £3.2 billion boost to the city over a 50 year period. ‌
