Now, the man's wife and young son are trying to return home to Minnesota with his remains

A 36-year-old man from Minnesota died after he was struck by lightning while biking on a mountain in Peru.

On Wednesday, Nov. 26, Yuri Botelho was biking in the mountainous Cusco region of southern Peru with an American friend, identified as 41-year-old James Alexander Fernandez, and a Peruvian tour guide, 35-year-old Dani Peralta, according to the Associated Press , CBS News , and Andina .
