SPRINGFIELD — A Texas man accused in a Sunday night shooting death in the Liberty Heights neighborhood is now facing murder charges.

Daevon Shular, 21, also was injured in the shooting. He was arrested Monday morning at Baystate Medical Center while he was seeking treatment for a gunshot wound that is not considered life-threatening, said Ryan Walsh, police spokesman.

Police received reports of the shooting at about 10:40 p.m. and found a man suffering a serious wound in an apartment on Home Street. The victim was brought to Baystate Medical by ambulance and later died from his injuries, Walsh said.
