Siena University men’s lacrosse head coach Liam Gleason is hospitalized after suffering serious injuries in an accident at his Saratoga County home.

Gleason, 40, was injured at his Halfmoon residence on Sunday, Nov. 30, Siena spokesperson Lisa Witkowski confirmed to Daily Voice. She added that Siena President Chuck Seifert has asked the campus community for their prayers and support for the family.

According to the Albany Times Union, Gleason was hurt after falling down a flight of stairs. New York State Police and paramedics responded, and CPR was administered before he was transported to a local hospital.

During a previous media availability, Siena women’s basketball head coach Terry Primm became emotional as he spoke about Gleason’s impact on the athletic community.

“Liam’s an incredible supporter of me even getting a job. I didn’t know he was paying that much attention; that’s the type of gentleman he is,” Primm told reporters.

“I’m heartbroken over what I’ve heard. We’re going to stay in prayer, we’re going to stay hopeful, and we’re praying for a miracle.”

The university did not elaborate on the nature of Gleason's injuries or provide an update on his condition. He remained hospitalized Monday, Dec. 1.

Named head coach of Siena’s men’s lacrosse program in 2018, Gleason has led the team to multiple MAAC semifinal and championship appearances.

This past season, the Saints won the MAAC Championship and earned their first NCAA Tournament berth in 11 years. He was named the ECAC Division I Men’s Lacrosse Coach of the Year.

Before arriving at Siena, Gleason coached at the University at Albany and The College of Saint Rose.

The Long Island native from Wading River is married to Jaclyn, a former Albany soccer player. The couple has three children.
