BEAUMONT, Texas — Dr. Nir Binur will face a jury this week in his second trial on charges of sexually assaulting a patient , after a February 2025 trial ended with a hung jury.
Jury selection began Monday in Jefferson County's 252nd District Court with Judge Raquel West presiding. Prosecutor Tommy Coleman is representing the state, while defense attorney Ryan Gertz is representing Binur.
In the first trial, which concluded on Feb. 18, 2025, jurors deliberated for hours but could not reach a unanimous verdict. Judge West sent the jury back to deliberate after they first reported their inability to reach a decision in the morning. When they returned in the late afternoon still deadlocked, West declared a mistrial.
