LUFKIN, Texas — The East Texas Food Bank served 1200 households in need amid pouring rain and chilly temperatures on Monday.

The handout was part of a special mobile pantry event at the Angelina County Expo Center in Lufkin, and was sponsored by Mike Love and Associates. Distributors passed out 25-pound boxes of non-perishable items along with frozen meat and produce just in time for the holiday season.

"I'm sorry that there are those people in need, and that's always something that can be heartbreaking, but I'm really proud and grateful that there's organizations like the East Texas Food Bank to be there as a backstop and a helping hand when there is that need in our community," Mike Love said. "And so to that extent, I feel blessed."
