ELKHART, Ind. (WNDU) - Amazon’s Elkhart delivery station is working to keep up with Cyber Monday orders as delivery drivers hit the roads during the busiest online shopping time of year.
The facility, which opened just a few months ago, employs over 300 Amazon truck drivers who deliver packages throughout Michiana as part of what Amazon calls the “last mile” of operations.
“What my team is going to do, those packages are going to be assigned a route code, and then we’re going to sort them down by route. We’re going to pick them. We’re going to stage them, on our carts for our drivers. And our drivers are going to come in. They’re going to take their cart, load their vans, and go out and deliver to the customers,” said Laura Harris, senior site leader at the Elkhart delivery station.
