TYLER, Texas — Christus Health has expanded children's healthcare services in East Texas by opening the region's first pediatric intensive care unit.

Construction is underway at Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler to create an ICU that provides specialized care for infants and children facing life-threatening illnesses, injuries and complex medical conditions. According to Dr. Mark Anderson, the chief medical officer for Christus Mother Frances Hospital, said that children with severe conditions traditionally required treatment at hospitals in Dallas.
