Those who missed out on The National at Edmonton Folk Music Festival – plus those who did not – will be happy to hear the band’s singer Matt Berninger is headed to Midway Music Hall March 12.

Playing just two days before July Talk electrifies the same venue, the general admission show will see the deep- and distinct-voiced 54-year-old unleashing songs off his second solo album Get Sunk – and hopefully that cover of Blue Monday – on a seven-city Canadian tour.

Random facts and claims to fame, including that family friend and astronaut Neil Armstrong taught him to play pool when he was a kid, Berninger also played in the side project EL VY with Brent Knopf, and has been pulling The National’s Gospel and Terrible Love on his Euro tour in the last couple weeks.
