The Warren County Sheriff’s Office arrested a local man on Monday accused of trying to rape a woman he held captive during an incident last month.

John Andrew Reel, 30, of Front Royal, is charged with attempted rape, strangulation and abduction by force or threat, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office issued Tuesday.

Reel is being held without bond at the Rappahannock-Shenandoah-Warren Regional Jail. Reel is scheduled to appear in Warren County General District Court on Jan. 13.

Online court records indicate that Reel was out on bond for charges in Shenandoah County when authorities say the incident occurred. Reel is charged in Shenandoah County on single felony counts of suffocation and damaging a phone to prevent summoning law enforcement, and one misdemeanor count of
