FRANCISCO, Ind. (WFIE) - A company wants to invest $300 million on a solar farm in Francisco.
Representatives from RWE were in Francisco Monday night for a public meeting to share details.
City leaders say RWE wants to start building in March 2027 and operational at the end of 2029.
Officials say the farm would produce energy for 42,500 homes.
It would mean 150 construction jobs, plus a few operation jobs.
Organizers are asking for an economic revitalization area of 3,800 acres, although city leaders say the panels would take up about 1,300 acres.
The Gibson County Council could vote on the requested tax abatement at the December 16 meeting.
