Tuesday’s snowstorm wasn’t the only reason to celebrate this week at Black Mountain Ski Area.
The popular ski site in Jackson offered free skiing to local residents on Tuesday to celebrate after the resort and town reached a legal settlement.
Black Mountain’s owners filed a lawsuit in October in federal court against the town claiming civil rights violations after local officials voted to rescind its approval to sell liquor at the site’s Alpine Cabin. The lawsuit alleged a Sept. 22 vote by the local Select Board was “unlawful,” “malicious, and unconstitutional.”
In a statement posted on social media, the ski area’s general manager said a full settlement was reached with Jackson on operations moving forward at the site.
