From Meredith to Manchester, New Hampshire’s first snowstorm of December started Tuesday morning and was expected to drop up to 10 inches in most of the state.

Officials declared snow emergencies in several communities, including the cities of Manchester, Nashua and Concord, where winter rules went into effect.

Early snow totals Tuesday evening had Meredith with the heaviest accumulation so far with 6.5 inches, according to the National Weather Service. Claremont wasn’t far behind with 6 inches.

The storm was expected to end around midnight with some flurries lingering, an NWS meteorologist said. An arctic front moving in Thursday could cause some sporadic snow squalls in the afternoon and evening.
