The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday said its deputies were engaged in a shooting with someone who was armed with a weapon in the area of International Golf Parkway.

The agency said the person was taken to a local hospital and that there is no ongoing threat to the public.

Deputies added that more information will be released as the investigation unfolds.

US 1, just south of International Golf Parkway, is closed in both directions as the investigation is completed, deputies said.
