By a 4-2 vote of council, the proposed tiny homes project has been struck down.

Couns. Ryan Graham, Jason Reynen, Shannon Stewart and Campbell Watt voted against the proposal to accept B.C. Housing's offer to place 50 small homes in the industrial area on land presently used for a dog park.

The main concern, it appears, was that it would be a "wet" facility.

After an hour of debate, including a passionate plea by Mayor Julius Bloomfield, council ultimately said no.

Bloomfield and Coun. Isaac Gilbert were in favour.

Council took a recess after the vote at which time Linda Sankey, NDP candidate in the last federal election, jeered council. However, by that time, only staff remained in the gallery as council members had already departed.
