(KBTX) - The Texas A&M men’s basketball team debuted at No. 78 in the first NET rankings of the season released Monday.
The Aggies hold a 6-2 record, with five of their wins coming in the fourth quadrant of the rankings. Their two losses, Oklahoma State and UCF, fall in Quadrants I and II.
Among Southeastern Conference teams, the Aggies sit 12th with Vanderbilt leading the way at No. 4. No. 96 Oklahoma, No. 98 Ole Miss, No. 100 South Carolina and No. 176 Mississippi State are behind the Aggies.
The NET, which stands for NCAA Evaluation Tool, is used by the NCAA selection committee for sorting and evaluating teams. As a part of the equation, the NET rewards teams for beating quality opponents, especially in away games. The NCAA keeps the full formula private.
