CEDAR PARK, Texas — A man was found guilty on Tuesday of assault and kidnapping charges in connection with an August 2020 shooting and standoff that left three Cedar Park police officers injured.
Joseph DeSean Taylor now awaits sentencing on three counts of aggravated assault on a peace officer and two counts of aggravated kidnapping for his role in the Aug. 16, 2020, incident that sparked an 18-hour hostage situation.
The incident began after Taylor's mother called to report he had kicked in the door at their house on Natalie Cove and was being aggressive. Responding Cedar Park police officers were met with gunfire, injuring three of them, and setting off the hours-long standoff.
