OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Omaha Inland Port Authority officials call it a transformational moment for north and east Omaha.

The Inland Port Authority board is making plans to put more than $120 million into a part of town that desperately needs jobs, affordable housing and economic development. But this is a song that many who live in the area to be developed have heard before.

Community skepticism based on past promises

In February of last year , Nite Hawkes Café was the location of the first meeting of East Omaha neighbors concerned about talks of taking out their homes to build a multimillion-dollar business park near Eppley Airfield.

Dan Hawkes is the fourth-generation owner of Nite Hawkes Café. He tells us plans about revitalizing the area are nothing new.
