LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - The “One Big Beautiful Bill,” signed by President Donald Trump on July 4, is making major changes to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
SNAP recipients must now work, train, or volunteer for at least 20 hours per week, for a total of 80 hours per month, to receive benefits. The age limit for those work requirements is also being raised from 18-59 to 18-64 years old.

The new rules impose stricter guidelines for state exemptions and eliminate exemptions for veterans, homeless individuals, those formerly in foster care and parents with children above the age of 15.
