A lawsuit challenging the legality of Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham's recent line-item vetoes was tossed out Tuesday by the New Mexico Supreme Court.
The court summarily denied the petition, with all five justices agreeing. The order didn't provide an explanation for the decision.
Duke Rodriguez — a former state Cabinet secretary and cannabis entrepreneur who is considering a run for the Republican nomination for governor — filed the complaint in October against Lujan Grisham and the New Mexico Compilation Commission Advisory Committee, which publishes the official state laws.
He had asked the court to throw out the governor's vetoes in a spending bill the Legislature passed in a special session in early October. The measure was designed to blunt the impact of federal funding cuts.
