COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina Legal Services (SCLS) is temporarily limiting new applications this month as the organization works to manage caseloads and address staffing shortages across several offices.

The statewide nonprofit announced that general intake for new applicants will be restricted from December 1–19, 2025, allowing the agency to stabilize staffing capacity, train employees, and ensure effective service delivery. During this period, SCLS says it will continue accepting applications only for emergency, time-sensitive legal matters on a case-by-case basis.
