ASHLAND, Va. — A drunken raccoon was treated at a Virginia shelter after pillaging a liquor store and passing out in a bathroom last week.
According to the Hanover County Animal Protection and Shelter, an officer responded to the Ashland ABC Store on Saturday morning.
There, she discovered at least one aisle strewn with broken and open liquor bottles and wine boxes.
The officer traced the carnage to a bathroom, where she found the culprit splayed between a toilet and a trash can.
The raccoon was given some time to sleep it off before being released to its native habitat.
“After a few hours of sleep and zero signs of injury (other than maybe a hangover and poor life choices), he was safely released back to the wild, hopefully having learned that breaking and entering is not the answer,
