WASHINGTON —
An Omaha-based employer testified before House lawmakers Tuesday, speaking about creating employment for veterans.
Greg Hamm of Werner Enterprises said the company is helping create a roadmap for Congress to accelerate veteran hiring.
That includes expanding commercial driver's license training grants, reducing Veterans Affairs' red tape on apprenticeships, cutting housing barriers during job training, and improving access to supply-chain careers for veterans and spouses.
"So if they've already served and they're passionate, and at one time they were passionate about serving and serving their country, here's another way for them to continue that mission to serve the country by being a truck driver or being in the logistics and and trucking industry," Hamm, the vice preside
