Boston Mayor Michelle Wu dropped more than $13,000 in taxpayer funds on travel accommodations and a security detail for her four-day trip to Canada, where she chopped down the city’s official Christmas tree gifted by the Nova Scotia province.
Wu brought along her family, three staff members and two Boston Police officers for last month’s trip to the Canadian province at a cost of roughly $13,365, all on the taxpayers’ dime, according to updated records released by the city Tuesday.
Previously, the city had released incomplete records that indicated the mayor’s trip cost just $5,062, when factoring in flight and hotel accommodations for the mayor and two staff members, from Nov. 9-12.
The latest records show that Wu brought along an additional staff member, and two Boston Police officers
