Dave Morehead died on Nov. 23.

The former MLB pitcher spent six of his eight big-league seasons with the Boston Red Sox . The other two were spent with the Kansas City Royals.

Morehead’s death was confirmed to The Boston Globe .

On Sept. 16, 1965, Morehead threw a no-hitter at Fenway Park against Cleveland. He had eight strikeouts and allowed just one walk.

The next no-hitter thrown by a Boston pitcher wasn’t until 2001 when Hideo Nomo accomplished the feat.

Morehead was part of the 1967 Red Sox team that won the American League pennant. They fell to the St. Louis Cardinals in the World Series.

The Royals selected Morehead in the 1968 expansion draft and spent his final two MLB seasons in Kansas City. He was 28 years old when he was released by the Royals in 1971.
