LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Webb County District Attorney Isidro Alaniz is warning the public not to fall victim to scams if they are trying to export their car or truck to Mexico.

Alaniz said this scam happens every year.

Laredo serves as the gateway in and out of Mexico, and it’s common for people to want to head south in a car or motorcycle. For people like Santiago Garcia, an Atlanta resident, they want to properly legalize their vehicle in Mexico.

“I’m coming from Atlanta and I’m going to Mexico City to nationalize two motorcycles,” Garcia said. “It’s so important to do this process the right way.”

But it’s a process people can’t cut corners on.
