LOUISVILLE, Ky. — An effort to prevent law enforcement from wearing full face masks in Louisville could face a tough final vote later this week, as tensions remain high nationwide amid a bolstered immigration enforcement initiative by the Trump administration.
It appears one vote from a Metro Council Democrat could decide the fate of Democratic Socialist JP Lyninger's legislation, which would strengthen Louisville's current ban on wearing masks in public in most circumstances, with exceptions for health, age, and religious reasons.
If Lyninger's amendment to the city's mask ordinance passes, the ban would include local, state and federal law enforcement.
