A massive fire broke out on Wednesday afternoon, engulfing 4-5 residential houses and prompting an immediate response from the Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES).

According to officials, a distress call was received at the Fire & Emergency Headquarters at 1:46 PM, following which fire tenders were dispatched from Fire Headquarters, Babdem, Fire Station Gowkadal and Fire Station Rainawari at 1:47 PM. Deputy Director F&ES Dr Mir Aqib Hussain told Rising Kashmir that initial assessment indicates 4-5 residential houses suffered damage in the incident. “With the dedicated and swift efforts of our firefighters, we successfully brought the blaze under control. Cooling operations are currently underway,” he said.

The operation was supervised on ground by Deputy Director Dr. Mir Aqi
