The internet was on its feet, as star Indian batter Ruturaj Gaikwad smashed his maiden ODI hundred against South Africa on Wednesday in Raipur. He reached his hundred with 12 boundaries and two sixes, helping India stay on track for a big total against South Africa.

The milestone pushed Gaikwad to the top of the all-time List A averages, his 58 edging past Michael Bevan’s 57.86.

Gaikwad started the series on a shaky note with just eight runs in the first ODI in Ranchi, but he showed his class on Wednesday in Raipur.
