CHICO — Kids at the Veterans Memorial Park pump track basked in the glory of their newfound appreciation for riding down dirt hills.

With their tiny bikes as catalysts, Max Poueu, Troy Poueu and Atlas Lee practiced balance, braking and steering as they made their way over bumps and along ridges.

The boys had a little help from adults Jessica Poueu and Sunya Sather on the rare occasion a hill got a bit too steep.

Veterans Memorial Park’s pump track is free and open to anyone wanting to test their biking skills and is located at 100 Wildwood Ave. in Chico. A separate parking lot is available next to the track at Eaton Road and Pendant Place for easier loading and unloading of bikes.
