CHICAGO (WLS) -- A Chicago-area paramedical tattoo artist is using her craft to help survivors of cancer, trauma and abuse reclaim their sense of self.
Elsa Milani, owner of Flawless Permanent Makeup by Elsa, appeared on WLS-TV Wednesday to explain how restorative tattooing, including scar camouflage and 3D areola reconstruction - can help clients rebuild confidence after medical or traumatic experiences. Milani offers many of these services pro bono.
Milani, a certified permanent cosmetic professional, said she was inspired by a lifelong artistic background, including her late grandfather, noted artist Tony Hepburn. She urged anyone struggling with body image during recovery to seek support: "You deserve to feel whole again."
