The receiving station at the Evansville water treatment plant will soon no longer be available to septic and grease haulers.
Those are the people who haul waste from homes, restaurants, and businesses.
The Evansville Water and Sewer Utility is shutting down the receiving station as of January 1st.
EWSU leaders say the station needs repair and costs a lot to operate, and they didn’t want to raise customer rates to fix it.
Haulers will have to truck waste hours away and will likely charge their customers for the trips.
