PHOENIX (AZFamily) — The wait is nearly over for the long-anticipated reopening of one of Phoenix’s most iconic steakhouses.

Durant’s steakhouse is scheduled to reopen on Wednesday, Dec. 17 .

The owners of the 75-year-old establishment on Central Avenue decided to sell the business in February to another high-end Valley steakhouse operator, the Mastro family.

The upscale steakhouse was known for its classic look with red interior lighting, sprawling booths and a walkthrough the kitchen entrance for arriving guests.

The restaurant has always been a Phoenix staple, home to date nights, politico meetings and the occasional celebrity sighting.

Jeffery Mastro told Arizona’s Family in February he is excited for historic Durant’s next chapter.
