PAWTUCKET – City resident and licensed massage therapist Janny Lopes Da Viega says her biggest self-care tip, especially for times of increased stress and activity like the holidays, is to simply sit down and relax one’s shoulders, even if for just a second.
“Sometimes we just need to stop everything, sit down, and breathe, because when you’re constantly doing and doing, you’re going to be exhausted,” Lopes Da Viega told The Breeze .
That advice is what Lopes Da Viega herself said she had to follow in order for her new business, BLSSD Spa, Rhode Island’s first-ever mobile massage van, to come to fruition.
She said her initial plan was to open a brick-and-mortar massage parlor, but she said that fate had other plans for her, which taught her the value of patience and calm.
