PAWTUCKET – Ask Jesus what he would do, says Pawtucket Soup Kitchen Director Adrienne Marchetti, and she’s quite certain it wouldn’t be for a church to close down a place that feeds the needy and destitute.
St. Raphael Academy and the Diocese of Providence have officially told the nonprofit that they have to leave, said Marchetti. She said they have been here for 17 years, and she is unaware of any problems that occurred with students. They are also located across the street from Agnes Little Elementary School and Jenkes Junior High School, she pointed out.
Marchetti said her board of directors was told the soup kitchen has to leave by February, but that the powers that be will work with them on that.
