DESHLER, Neb. (KOLN) - Spring Creek Model Trains attracts “serious railroaders” from all over the world to Deshler - a town with a population of about 800 people. This business was born from high school sweethearts and their shared love of locomotives.
“Model trains has been a passion of mine since I was a little boy,” said David Zucker, co-founder of Spring Creek Model Trains. “Like the average little boy, I liked anything with wheels.”
David moved to Deshler from South Dakota when he was two years old with his family. The railroad brought Deb’s family moved to town in 1970.
“My dad was the last depot agent for the Rock Island Railroad here in Deshler,” Deb said. “(He was) very meticulous in taking care of both the farmers, grain equipment that would come to town.”
