CANTON, Ohio — For the chance to reclaim a state championship, Glenville had to go through the defending champs to return to Canton.
The Tarblooders did that Friday in one of Ohio’s biggest state semifinals, a back-and-forth battle with Indian Valley that saw Glenville give up a big lead before Da’Von McDougle’s go-ahead score in the fourth quarter of a 26-21 victory at Minerva High School’s Dr. Robert Hines Stadium. The Tarblooders clinched it with a fourth-down stop of Grady Kinsey, swarmed by Jamir Perez and a host of Glenville defenders.
They stopped one Mr. Football finalist on the road to Canton and now face another one in Shelby quarterback Brayden DeVito at 10:30 a.m. Friday inside Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton.
