A new study has named Manchester among the UK’s coolest cities, but the reasoning behind it may surprise you. The city ranked fourth in a list of the top 10 coolest in the country.

Researchers from Betway Casinos analysed 40 of the UK’s most populated cities and ranked them based on on several factors to find the coolest, many of which you’d expect when looking at ‘how cool’ a city is. This includes the number of record stores, hidden gem food and drink locations, and upcoming music events.

But they also considered other factors which may surprise you, such as the average age of residents; the number of veggie, vegan and gluten-free restaurants; and the number of tattoo studios. The analysts then took these factors and indexed them based on the number of places and event
