A councillor has called for more matchday carriages and better parking on the Northumberland Line ahead of the first anniversary of its reopening. Daniel Carr, councillor for South Blyth , welcomed the news that a new later service would leave Newcastle for Ashington on weekdays and Saturdays , and that most Sunday services would go directly to the MetroCentre.
However, he believes that there are still some improvements that can be made, despite describing the line as an "overwhelming success" since it opened last December. Newsham Station, in Coun Carr's ward, opened in March this year.
