Ace India batter Virat Kohli’s 53rd ODI hundred and Ruturaj Gaikwad’s maiden ton were overshadowed by a collective effort from South Africa in a challenging run chase, leading to a series-levelling four-wicket victory in the second ODI against India on Wednesday.

Chasing 359, South Africa capitalised on a brilliant century from Aiden Markram (110), a brutal 34-ball 54 (1×4, 5×6) from Dewald Brevis, and Matthew Breetzke’s 68 to cross the finish line in another resilient batting effort.

The series-deciding third and final ODI will be played in Visakhapatnam on Saturday.
