The Bruins made a roster move on Wednesday and sent Riley Tufte to Providence.
Boston summoned the forward from the AHL in November after Viktor Arvidsson and Casey Mittelstadt were placed on injured reserve. Both players have returned to game action.
Tufte played in four games during his call up. He scored one goal against the Carolina Hurricanes on Nov. 17. He has not played since the Bruins’ loss to the New York Rangers on Nov. 28.
The move gives Boston a roster spot should it need to call up a defenseman after Michael Callahan was injured in the Bruins’ loss to the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday night.
The Bruins are already without Charlie McAvoy , Jordan Harris and Henri Jokihaju on defense.
