A former deputy executive director in Nashville's Metro Human Relations Commission faces three criminal charges based on accusations that he misappropriated more than $62,000 in taxpayer funds for his personal benefit.

Mark Eatherly, 42, was indicted Nov. 26 and charged with theft of more than $60,000, official misconduct and money laundering. He was booked into jail at 10:40 that morning, posted $50,000 bond and was released at 2:23 p.m., according to the Davidson County Sheriff's Office.

Eatherly resigned from his post July 3 after being placed on investigative leave June 13. The Tennessean left a voicemail with a phone number associated with Eatherly.
