OMAHA, Neb. —
Omaha native Terence "Bud" Crawford was stripped of his super middleweight title by the World Boxing Committee.
According to the WBC , Crawford failed to pay sanctioned fees after his last two fights against Israil Madrimov and Canelo Alvarez.
In September, Crawford (42-0, 31 knockouts) defeated Alvarez in 12 rounds . He earned $50 million for the Alvarez fight, the WBC said, which made him the undisputed world champion.
The WBC said its rules were modified because of the magnitude of the event, changing its fees to 0.6 percent — about $300,000 — instead of the 3% that the rules and regulations require. That is money that typically goes to help boxers and their families.
For this fight, 75 percent of Crawford's bout fee was going to be allocated to the José Sulaimán B
